Company News Release

BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY (March 18, 2009)

-

Clinsys Clinical Research, Inc.®, a therapeutically focused global contract research organization, announced its partnership with North Carolina State University (NCSU) to provide 20 Clinsys employees with Six Sigma Green Belt training. During the month of March, these employees will participate in a two-part training program directed by NCSU's College of Textiles and Industrial Extension Service (IES) departments.

Six Sigma is a data-driven approach for eliminating defects-defined as anything outside of customer specifications/satisfaction-in any process. Clinsys' Green Belt trainees will use the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) methodology to make improvements in the day-to-day operations that directly impact client deliverables.

Clinsys received an Incumbent Workforce Development Program grant from the Capital Area Workforce Development Board for the Six Sigma training. The program was developed to help businesses be more competitive in the global market through training and education.

"It is a very competitive grant, and we are glad these funds are available for local businesses," said Alfreda Barnett, Project Officer of the Capital Area Workforce Development Board. "What makes this program so competitive is the approval process. The application must first be reviewed by the Local Workforce Development Board. The local Board then makes a recommendation to the North Carolina Department of Commerce, which has a committee review the recommended applications and make the final decision for all applications submitted by the local Boards across the state."

Clinsys' Green Belt trainees represent all levels of the company and were selected from cross-functional departments: Clinical Operations, Data Management, Biostatistics, Field Operations, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Services, Legal, Clinical Development, Training and Customer Relations, Proposals and Contracts, Business Excellence, Human Resources, and Information Technology. Before they are considered Green Belt certified, the trainees must complete an open-book assessment and present their projects for final approval to a committee comprised of Clinsys senior management and NCSU trainers. Ultimately, each trainee must show the committee that he/she will help Clinsys increase profitability with satisfied customers and repeat business, plus enhance competitiveness in an industry that values Six Sigma trained employees.

"We are grateful to the staff of the Capital Area Workforce Development Board and NCSU for all the guidance and support provided to Clinsys," said David E. Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Clinsys. "Clinsys is dedicated to continuous quality improvement, and our talented trainees will apply what they have learned to further ensure customer satisfaction every step of the way."
