18 March 2009 - The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) has today officially welcomed Francis P. Crawley, executive director of the Good Clinical Practice Alliance – Europe (GCPA), as the chairman of its 2010 Annual Spring Conference and Exhibition Working Party.
The 30th Annual Spring Conference and Exhibition is currently taking place (17-18 March 2009) at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham. The event attracted hundreds of ICR members and clinical research professionals and included the latest updates and discussion on clinical trial developments in the United Kingdom, Europe and globally.
The team, formed in January, had its first 2010 meeting on the evening prior to this year’s conference. The group began discussions on establishing next year’s programme designed to engage the ICR membership and the international clinical trial community, supporting the ICR’s vision as the premier organisation for clinical research.
“As ICR has grown and developed its European and international vision, I have become more engaged with the expansion of its membership and influence,” explained Francis.
“I have several years of experience presenting at ICR events on Good Clinical Practice, ethics, and paediatrics. This has given me an inside view of the ICR’s commitment to excellence in developing clinical research professionals. Chairing the Annual Spring Conference Working Party raises an opportunity to expand and deepen this vision. We have an excellent team, within the ICR and on the working party.”
This year’s 30th Annual Spring Conference and Exhibition, entitled Essential Updates and Lively Debates, features high calibre clinical research professionals presenting across four specific streams – Therapeutics, Raising Standards, Sharing Knowledge, and Developing Professionals.
Francis concluded: “I look forward to creating an innovative conference programme for 2010 that meets the memberships’ needs and helps to develop expertise and professionalism in clinical research.”
The ICR Spring Conference and Exhibition is the largest clinical research event of its kind in Europe, which brings together delegates from the pharmaceutical industry, academia and the Health Service, all looking to keep up to date, make new contacts, renew old acquaintances or cement relationships.
