In this open and engaging discussion, decentralized clinical trial (DCT) industry veterans react about industry advances as they relate to the incorporation of mobile visits into DCTs. Craig Lipset will share his early days at Pfizer at the dawn of the DCT movement and his early support of the model, and the challenges and barriers he faced. Deb will then report on her role and responsibilities working with teams to effectively incorporate mobile visits into study protocols. Then, together with facilitator Ellen Weiss, the group will imagine the future of mobile research within the DCT ecosystem.

Ellen Weiss connects CROs and sponsors with right-sized hybrid and remote solutions. She has spoken on the logistical support necessary for IMP delivery and dosing, sample collection, and the services provided by clinical trial research nurses that enable alternate-site visits to be carried out with the same data quality and subject safety as on-site visits. Ellen is a member of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and is a volunteer for the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Deb Guattery most recently worked at Pfizer as the Process Lead for Home Health and Decentralized Clinical Trials. In that role, she built the processes and expanded the services of home nursing visits and other decentralized trial elements to be written into clinical trial protocols. Deb also advised in the writing of WCG Avoca Key Performance Indicators for the use of home health visits in a clinical trial and is an active participant in collaborative groups within the Decentralized Trials and Research Alliance (DTRA). Deb continues to seek the advancement of decentralized elements, like the use of home health visits, with the ultimate goal of driving better recruitment and retention of more diverse patients in clinical trials..

Craig Lipset is an advisor, educator, advocate and innovator focused on novel solutions for clinical trials and medicine development. He is the founder of Clinical Innovation Partners, providing advisory and board leadership with pharma, tech and investors. Craig is Co-Chair for the Decentralized Trials & Research Alliance and Vice President of the Foundation for Sarcoidosis. He is an adjunct assistant professor in Health Informatics at Rutgers University, and serves on the Advisory Council for HL7 Project Vulcan and External Stakeholder Board for IMI Trials at Home. Craig was previously the Head of Clinical Innovation and Venture Partner at Pfizer, and was on the founding management teams for two successful startup ventures.
