Brentwood, Tenn.-January 21, 2009-Praxis, a company specializing in centralized patient recruitment for clinical research studies, recently provided patient recruitment services to a major pharmaceutical company for a study to test an investigational medication for a women’s health indication. The recruitment program saved 10 months off the enrollment period and delivered a 450% return on investment for the sponsor. Praxis’ centralized recruitment program directly delivered 62% of all patients randomized into the study.
This was the second in a branded series of studies for this indication. Through Praxis’ analysis of metrics and data, a customized marketing strategy and extension of the brand campaign was developed to successfully motivate women to respond. “The need for branded continuum campaigns is something Praxis has been on the leading edge of. When executed successfully, this approach adds a whole new level of success for our sponsor partners and in the end that is our ultimate goal.” say David Fox, Praxis President & CEO. Additionally, Praxis launched a comprehensive retention campaign to encourage study compliance and completion by each subject. This resulted in an 85% retention rate, which is 21% greater than the industry average for phase II studies.
The study was centrally managed and patient recruitment results were available in real-time, 24/7 using PraxisDirect®, Praxis’ online study management technology. The real-time analysis of PraxisDirect also allowed for effective allocation of media dollars. In comparing this study to its predecessor, the response rates were 12% higher. This insight allowed Praxis to invest more media dollars in site areas where the campaign was receiving high returns. The PraxisDirect technology also played a key role in the daily life of the study coordinator by offering key assistance and tracking regarding patient outcomes. Study Coordinator Holly Jarrell says “I have worked with several central recruiting agencies over the past few years and I can say without hesitation that Praxis was definitely the best. We received so many referrals from your central ad campaign and that is very uncommon on most studies using central advertising that I have dealt with in the past. You guys really did your research on advertising in our area and it really showed.” The system is consistently rated excellent by study coordinators in terms of ease of use and content.
